TactiSMART 054: Where are our RIFLE HAND GRENADES?

IDF Soldiers with Rifle Grenades and RPGs: what the USMIL Still Lacks...but once had the former...

In yet another Tofflerian physical erosion of infantry firepower, the USMIL has large High Explosive (HE) and very nasty White Phosphorous (WP) rifle grenades sitting unused in storage and refuses to buy new ones that all you need to do is place them on the end of your long arm (weapon, normies), aim & fire they are BULLET TRAP or BULLET-THRU. The U.S. ARMY has Launched Grappling Hooks (LGHs) to pull enemy trip wires and the Israeli Rafael "Simon" 120 RLEM/GREM door entry rifle grenades collecting dust. There are no carry pouches for LGHs or RLEM/GREMs.

Weak, palm-sized 40mm grenades vs. Rifle Grenades & RPGs--guess who has combat overmatch? Not us. Our disposible rockets lack dedicated gunners to get good at hitting what they need to. Hence "14-hour firefights" that should only last 14 seconds because our force structure is dominant.

A. Brent Smith wrote in 2006:

Number one is the sheer ineffectiveness of the too small caliber [5.56mm] rounds our troops are issued on many of the adversaries encountered, and number two is that if not for our M1 Abrams [heavy] tanks and air/arty support many of our outgunned infantry units would have easily been overran in many of the urban settings this fight is taking place in.  While many of the local insurgents and occasionally the foreign fighters really don’t know how to fight, some have learned that U.S. infantry squads are ill-equipped to respond to RPG volley fire and properly-executed ambushes.

Several new rifle-launched grenades have been introduced in recent years that move this type of weapons system up in the hierarchy of modern infantry weapons.

Modern spigot launched grenades are designed to fit a 22mm diameter launcher.  This set-up was first utilized by NATO, and appears to now be the international standard.

Many of the currently issued modern rifle grenades are listed as having a 400+ meter range and a larger kill/wound radius than the [tiny] rounds fired by the issued M203.

One of these new grenades is the REFAIM Advanced Infantry Weapons System being developed by Israel Military Industries.  Refaim uses an air-burst, telescopic, bullet trap rifle grenade with point detonation, time delay and self destruct functions. The fragmentation charge is optimized against infantry targets but can also penetrate vehicles and windows by utilizing a short time delay, thereby maximizing the effect behind or within cover.   While our DOD is spending millions developing the OICW system requiring a completely new weapon to be developed, a Refaim system can be mounted on current M16/M4 rifles.  A laser range finder and computer tells the soldier the range to target and the soldier can then program the round to detonate at a desired range as impact or airburst.  Special rounds with embedded cameras and com links are available to retrieve intel while in flight and CS rounds are already available.  This would appear to be much more cost efficient and since it’s already available could be deployed now instead of waiting for another 10 years.

Beating the RPG: Where's my PIKE 40mm guided missile? Is it too costly to supply to Soldiers?

https://www.defensetech.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/pike-missile-model-600x400.jpg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pike_(munition)

The Pike is a precision-guided mini-missile[1] designed by Raytheon. It is a 40 mm guided munition that can be fired from the barrel of a Heckler & Koch M320 Grenade Launcher Module and Enhanced Grenade Launching Module (EGLM) like a standard 40mm grenade, but is powered by a rocket motor to propel it 2,000 m (2,200 yd; 1.2 mi) to give infantrymen improved extended-range precision capabilities. The weapon uses a digital, semi-active laser seeker to guide itself to within 5 meters of the target; it can operate in a two-man shooter/spotter team or by the grenadier alone lazing after firing, as it can fly for 15 seconds before homing in. When fired, Pike has a small propellant to "kick" it 2.5–3 m (8.2–9.8 ft) out of the tube before the nearly smokeless motor ignites, and range is dependent on firing angle. The munition is effective against fixed and slow-moving mid-range targets, using a 6⁄10 lb (9.6 oz; 0.27 kg) blast fragmentation warhead with a 10-meter lethality radius. Raytheon developed the weapon for three years in collaboration with Nammo Talley, which developed the warhead and propulsion system. The Pike is intended to be more accurate with a longer range than rocket propelled grenades (RPGs) and standard rifle grenades, while being far lighter and more cost-effective than current infantry guided weapons like the $78, 000 each FGM-148 Javelin. Further improvements could include different fuses, multiple-round simultaneous programming and targeting with data-link capabilities, and platform integration onto small boats, vehicles, and small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Pike weighs 1.7 lb (0.77 kg) and is 16.8 in (43 cm) long, too long to fit in the breech of the M203 grenade launcher. At AUSA 2015, Raytheon revealed they had performed two successful test firings of the Pike.[2][3][4][5]

Let's not hold our breath for "The Great Pumpkin" laser-guided mini-missiles to arrive. It's been 6x years so far after the announcement...Our disposible rockets lack dedicated gunners to get good at hitting what they need to. We are only of late getting 84mm Carl Gustav RR gunners.

Hence, "14-hour firefights" that should only last 14 seconds because our force structure is dominant.

The James Bond movies do a public service depicting rifle grenades by S.P.E.C.T.R.E. in "Dr. NO", and Communist Soldiers pelting 007 and Kara in "The Living Daylights" who escape by armored sports car--

If we were smart (USMIL is not; it's an un-professional bureaucracy) we'd create a COMBINATION stick hand grenade & rifle grenade because German stick grenades can be thrown 10 meters farther than baseball hand grenades and don't roll down hill if you want them to explode on ground above you.

U.S. ARMY Paratroopers with Baseball Hand Grenades Clipped to their Load Bearing Equipment (LBE)

Stick Hand Grenades--ideally Stick Hand/Rifle Grenades--can be more securely carried today in pouches than stuffed in a belt, WW2-style where then can easily fall out...

From the Russian Point-of-View (POV)...note the German Stick Grenade Thrower about to launch...
Notice the Stick Grenades enable the Germans to Engage the Russian Infantry at a surprising 50 meters Range-Reach
Stick Grenades can also be Bundled together to make Field eXpedient (Fx) Satchel Charges to HE-destroy Harder Targets

Nihilists have an aversion to death--to put it mildly. However, the Soldier if he does his DUTY WELL and combat OVERMATCHES the enemy must develop superior Tactics, Techniques, Procedures, Environment, Enemy, Equipment (TTPE3)--this means tinkering with and fielding things like  rifle hand grenades.

https://1sttac.blogspot.com/2020/07/tactismart-027-so-you-want-to-be-rifle.html

We have a SERIOUS MORAL KOLLAPSE problem in the WOKETARD-korrupted USMIL when nihilist disdain for following ANY laws, rules and regulations results in gyrenes just sitting as their amphibious tractor (AMTRACK) aka swimming tank slowly sinks; as the sea water rises from their ankles to their waists. 9x sitting there as their AMTRACK sinks to the sea bottom and them dying by drowning is horrendous--they refused to do their DUTY or PRESERVE THEMSELVES. Did they think this deadly Kinetic war stuff is instead a mental fantasy video game and they'll just "re-spawn"? Earth is flat, right?

Commander Ian Fleming RNVR 1939-51 wrote the James Bond 007 books/movies for the Information Research Division (IRD) of MI6-SIS who he worked for as a Master Spy under journalistic cover from 1933-39 and 1945-1964 when he was murdered (as concluded by legendary investigative reporter, Jim Marrs to me) to prevent him publicly condemning the Warren Commission white wash of the CIA's group ambush murder of his friend, President John F. Kennedy.

James Bond is REAL.
