BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE THE HUMILITY TO PROVIDE A PLAN B when Pilots, Engines & Airframes (PEA) fail in the face of TBATE and/or TBAM.
Flimsy tube & wing aircraft construction doesn't help crash survival but will take YEARS to obtain--maybe NEVER if the evil, bad faith Illuminati have their ways.
Thus, there is no reason why the existing tube & wing planes' fuselage bottoms can't be boat shaped to gently land on the water, 1x time in emergency and stay floating.
A good place to start would be a combination fuel tank/float for the USN/Mc's PLAN B-defective F/A-18s, EA-6Bs, F-35B/Cs...like which would also work on A-4 SkyHawks making them "HydroHawks". The last resort, PLAN C should be eject/bail-out--not as PLAN B losing entire aircraft.
