FutureWARTHINK 031: 2x Wings Are Better than 1

ALMOST 007: SEXY ROMANTIC BIPLANE ADVENTURE! "High Road to China"

Most as in 99% of ALL 100% airplanes flying today have 2x wings--a left of the fuselage one and a right of the fuselage one or if wisely a Burnelli BWB with no fuselage tube than the aircraft's centerline.

https://1sttac.blogspot.com/2021/05/tactismart-061-new-burnelli-dc-3c-47s.html

However, normies have superficially looked upon these planes dubbing them one monolithic wing or "monoplane". Those with another set of wings on top even though they actually have 4x wings are called 2x wing aka "bi-planes" by bi-polar aviation normies.

More lift with 4x wings in the same wing span space means AERO units for AEROtanks aka Flying Tanks.

https://www.bitchute.com/video/jkvil8KNcfcb/

More lift means instead of being DOTG, smaller, more discrete airfields and instead of drag-inducing fuel drop tanks, DROP WINGS to carry extra fuel which should be utilized by military forces like the cash-strapped British figured out to do in WW2.

The normative lie that flight can or should be effortlessly "routine" has been killing thousands of people needlessly each year.

At the end of the action movie star ensemble adventure, "Expendables 2" they acquire a STOL  AN-2 Colt biplane for future special operations missions--a sound choice since it can do everything--Observe/Attack/Transport aka Liaise (OAL) like other STOL Grasshoppers with internal cargo/troop space like the PC-6 TurboPorter--but wrongly both aircraft are no longer in production though they could be modernized with 2x engines co-axially close together or in a contraprop arrangement like the Tu-95 bomber's engine or the Fairey Gannet.

The AN-2 is akin to the DHC Beaver (Harrison Ford's favorite seen in 7 Days, 7 Nights) his bi-plane seaplane escape beginning "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and Westland Lysander of WW2, 007 SOE fame depicted well in "Allied" with ubersexy Marion Cotillard.

WW2 Biplane Combat Successes--Ignored by Ignore-rant Normies

FACT.

The 1st destruction of an entire fleet was done by Swordfish biplanes against the Italian fleet at Taranto in 1940--BEFORE the Japanese copy-catted this at Pearl Harbor suckered into FDR/Churchill/Fleming's ambush to get the American sheeple to go to war against the Axis before it was too late.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_CR.42_Falco

The CR.42 was an evolution of Fiat’s earlier CR.32 fighter, featuring a more powerful supercharged Fiat A.74R1C.38 air-cooled radial engine and aerodynamic improvements to its relatively clean exterior surfaces. The aircraft proved to be relatively agile in flight, a factor that had been attributed to its very low wing loading and a sometimes decisive tactical advantage. RAF Intelligence praised its exceptional manoeuvrability, further noting that "the plane was immensely strong"

Aviation author Przemyslaw Skulski has claimed that the fighter had performed at its best during its service with the Hungarian Air Force, specifically during its deployment against Soviet forces on the Eastern Front of the war, where it reportedly achieved a kill to loss ratio of 12 to 1.

On numerous occasions, the Falco was engaged in dogfights against the British Gloster Gladiator, another biplane fighter, over Malta, and later against the British Hawker Hurricane monoplane, sometimes resulting in unexpected successes. The maneuverability of the Falco was an aspect of particular concern to the RAF pilots that faced them. Aviation author Haining observed that: "A RAF Intelligence report in late October 1940 circulated to all pilots and their squadrons, with copies to Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, and the War Cabinet, declared: 'The manoeuvrability of the CR.42s, in particular their capacity to execute an extremely tight half roll, has caused considerable surprise to other pilots and undoubtedly saved many Italian fighters from destruction.'"

Over the skies of Malta, the CR.42 encountered British Hurricanes for the first time on 3 July 1940. That day, Flying Officer Waters (P2614) shot down an SM.79 bomber five miles (eight kilometers) off Kalafrana, but he was soon attacked in turn by the escorting Falchi, who badly shot up his aircraft. Waters crashed on landing and his Hurricane was written off.[29] The Hurricane pilots soon discovered that the Italian biplanes could often outmaneuver their aircraft and that this was a crucial factor in any dogfight against them.

Pilot Officer Jock Barber remembered: "On my first combat, the 9 of July, I attacked the leader of a Squadriglia of Falcos, while [Flight Lieutenant] George Burges attacked an SM.79 bomber. When I shot the CR.42 at a range of 100 yards [91 meters], he did a flick-roll and went spinning down. I found myself engaged in dogfighting with the remaining CR.42s. This went down to about 10,000 feet [3,048 meters]; by then I had used up all my ammunition without much success, although I am convinced I got quite a few strikes on the leader in the initial combat. I realized pretty quickly that dogfighting with biplanes was just not on. They were so manoeuvrable that it was very difficult to get in a shot, and I had to keep diving and turning to keep myself from being shot down. George had by this time disappeared so I stuck my nose down and, with full throttle, was very thankful to get out of the way."[30]

A week later, a dozen CR.42s from 23° Gruppo appeared in the sky over Malta for a reconnaissance. Flight Lieutenants Peter Keeble and Burges scrambled to intercept them, and the resulting action greatly impressed the Malta defenders with the CR.42's maneuvering capability. Keeble attacked one CR.42 – probably the aircraft (MM4368) flown by Sottotenente Mario Benedetti of 74a Squadriglia that crashed, killing its pilot, but then came under attack himself by the Falchi of Tenente Mario Pinna and Tenente Oscar Abello. Keeble tried to dogfight with the Italians, but his engine was hit and his Hurricane dived into the ground at Wied-il-Ghajn, near Fort Rinella, and blew up; he was the first pilot to be killed in action at Malta.[31] This was the first recorded air victory in the Second World War of the CR.42 against the Hurricane. Shortly after Keeble's loss, a meeting of all the pilots and senior staff was called to discuss the best ways of countering the agile CR.42. A suggestion was made that the Hurricane should put down a bit of flaps as this might enable it to turn with the CR.42, but the only realistic proposal was to climb above these aircraft to be in an advantageous position.[32] Nevertheless, Cattaneo noted that the Hurricane gradually proved itself to be superior to the CR.42.[33]

While flying the Falco in Africa Orientale Italiana (A.O.I), Mario Visintini became the top biplane fighter ace of the Second World War (having achieved 16 kills) and Luigi Baron and Aroldo Soffritti became the second and third Fiat CR. 42 top scoring aces, having made 12 and 8 air victories respectively.[41] Moreover, during that short and difficult campaign, the Fiat fighters were responsible for the destruction of a large number of RAF and South African Air Force (SAAF) aircraft, both in the air and on the ground, including a number of Hurricanes.[42]

During 1940, three squadriglie stationed in Italian East Africa — EthiopiaItalian Eritrea, and Italian Somaliland — were equipped with CR.42s. The 412a – the most experienced Squadriglia – was based in Gura (with the 414a Squadriglia) and in Massawa. The 413a Squadriglia was in Assab. Fighting there began in June 1940 and lasted until the autumn of 1941. The Italians met mostly British bombers and reconnaissance aircraft, destroying many of them. On 12 June 1940, 412a Squadriglia attacked nine Vickers Wellesley bombers from 47 Squadron above Asmara, and Tenente Carlo Canella claimed the first CR.42 victory in East Africa, a Wellesley that was heavily damaged and forced to crash-land. Two days later, the 412a Squadriglia again intercepted a pair of Wellesleys, this time from 14 Squadron, that were trying to bomb Massawa. Tenente Mario Visintini, for the first of his 16 air victories in East Africa, shot down the Wellesley flown by Pilot Officer Plunkett.[43][44]

Dogfights usually occurred when enemy airfields were being attacked. But fierce air battles took place at the beginning of November 1940, during the British offensive against the Italian forts of Gallabat and Metemma, along the Sudan border. The Regia Aeronautica was dominant in these fights, sometimes even against more powerful opponents. The most successful day was on 6 November when the CR.42s achieved seven confirmed victories against the Gladiators, for no losses.[45] In the air duels fought during 1940, losses however were also suffered: at least six Fiats were destroyed and about a dozen damaged.[46] Operations involving the CR.42 were typically hampered by wider logistical issues; the Royal Navy had prevented Italian supplies reaching East Africa and aerial transportation alone proved to be insufficient.[47]

It was on the North African front that the CR.42 was most extensively used.[28] At the beginning of the war in Italian North Africa, there were 127 CR.42s from the 13° Gruppo (2° Stormo) at Castel Benito and from the 10° and 9° Gruppo of 4° Stormo in Benina, including reserve aircraft. According to some historians, it was in the North African theatre that the CR.42 performed at its best.[2] Experienced Italian pilots, the majority of them being veterans of the Spanish Civil War, employed the exceptional manoeuvrability of the CR.42 to great effect, enabling successful attacks against RAF Gladiators, Hurricanes and Spitfires and often forcing their opponents "...to adopt the tactic that Messerschmitt pilots had used against them: to avoid dogfights and to attack them with sudden dives."[48]

Initially, the Falco was pitted against the contemporary Gloster Gladiator and Hawker Hart (the latter being operated by the South African Air Force) biplanes,[48] as well as the Bristol Blenheim fast bombers of the RAF, opposing which they were able to achieve a measurable level of success. On 29 June, a group of CR.42s from 2° Stormo scrambled to intercept an inbound formation of Blenheims, estimated as totalling nine aircraft, that were in the process of bombing the airfield of Tobruk T2. During the ensuing engagement, the Italian pilots claimed to have shot down six of the British bombers, probably from No.113 Squadron, which that day reported as having lost three aircraft.[49]

The Gladiator was viewed as being superior to the Fiat in regards to its combat equipment also. The 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT could fire an effective explosive bullet, but the Gladiator's Brownings were able to shoot 2.5 more rounds per second than the synchronized Italian machine guns. However, the CR.42 was capable of superior performance; it was much faster at about 3,000 feet (900 m) thanks to its smaller wing area, constant-speed propeller and the superior power of its engine, which could provide up to 960 horsepower (720 kW) for short periods at emergency rating.[51] The overall exchange ratio between CR.42 and Gladiator is difficult to assess, but HÃ¥kan Gustavsson and Slongo rated the Gladiator with an advantage about 1.2–1.9:1.[52]

Eventually, on 31 October 1940, the Falchi scored their first confirmed air victories in North Africa against the Hawker Hurricane. During the air battle over Mersa Matruh Sergente Maggiore Davide Colauzzi and Sergente Mario Turchi from 368a Squadriglia, while escorting SM.79 bombers, shot down the Hurricanes of 33 Squadron that were flown by 26-year-old Canadian Flying Officer Edmond Kidder Leveille (RAF no. 40837) – who was forced to bail out but was killed when his parachute failed to deploy completely – and Flying Officer Perry St Quintin (Hurricane P3724), who made a forced landing at Qasaba with a holed fuel tank.[49]

The as-is AN-2 has a tremendous, legendary record--that continues to the present day!

AN-2 Colt - Bomber

In addition to the transport and passenger versions, the An-2 piston biplane was designed as a light reconnaissance-corrector and night bomber. Work on the combat version of the "Corn" began in OKB-153 in the spring of 1947. According to the project, it was to be a three-seater aircraft designed for night reconnaissance, artillery fire adjustment and night bombings, with the possibility of landing on ground front-line airfields with a short-range runway. The characteristics of the An-2, its low speed, high maneuverability, minimum mileage and takeoff were fully suitable for these tasks.

AN-2F Fedya

GMTA!

The aircraft, which received the symbol "F" ("Fedya") had a lot in common with the base An-2. In order to increase the convenience of combat use, the fuselage and tail empenage were modified. Closer to the tail, a cockpit of an observer pilot was mounted, which resembled a cage and was a glazed truss. In order to ensure the ease of use of defensive weapons in the rear hemisphere, the tail was made with spaced keels.

A turret with a 20-mm B-20 gun was installed behind the upper wing to repel the attacks of enemy fighters from the rear hemisphere. In the lower right plane was mounted another stationary 20-mm gun, which fired forward. Crew and engine jobs received armor protection. When used as a night bomber, the aircraft could carry twelve 50 kg of bombs in cassettes placed in the fuselage, under the lower planes were four holders for 100 kg of bombs or NAR blocks.

Tests of the An-2NAK (night artillery corrector) were successfully completed in the early 1950s. But due to the development of jet aircraft, the aircraft was not mass-produced. Subsequent events have shown the erroneousness of this decision. Po-2 and Yak-11 night bombers were used very effectively during the fighting on the Korean Peninsula in the early 1950s. Due to the low speed, the accuracy of bombing from Po-2 biplanes was very good, and the "flying shelves" themselves due to the large difference in speed and high maneuverability proved to be a very difficult target for American night fighters. There are several cases where night interceptors crashed while trying to shoot down Po-2 flying at night at low altitudes. Flying, as a rule, over enemy trenches and in the front line, North Korean light bombers were a real nightmare for U.N. forces. Dropping 100-150 kg small caliber bombs, they paralyzed traffic in the near rear and terrorized targets on the front line of the enemy. American Soldiers called them "crazy Chinese alarm clocks." It seems that the night bomber An-2NAK, had similar to the Po-2 speed and maneuverability, with a higher payload could be much more effective in Korea.

The successful use of converted "corncrakes" in a number of military conflicts prompted the designers to return to the topic of military use of the An-2. At the beginning of 1964, a modified An-2 with attack weapons was tested at the airfield of the Air Force Research Institute in Chkalovsky.

Rifle and bomb sights were installed on the plane, the armament included NAR UB-16-57 units and 100-250 kg bombs. BDZ-57KU beam holders were mounted on the An-2 for the suspension of weapons. In the porthole and skin of the cargo cabin were made devices for firing Kalashnikov rifles. The results of military tests did not impress and work on this topic in the USSR was no longer conducted.

Despite the fact that the "
combat" version of the An-2 did not go into series,

AN-2s were modified with upward-firing autocannon to shoot-down U.S. Spy balloons!

...this originally not intended for war aircraft has repeatedly participated in hostilities in various parts of the world. The first known case of combat use of the An-2 occurred in Indochina in 1962, when the North Vietnamese An-2 delivered cargo to its allies in Laos - the left neutralists and units of "Pathet-Lao". During such flights on the "cornfields" often fired from the ground. To suppress anti-aircraft fire on the An-2 began to hang blocks of 57-mm NAR S-5 and install machine guns in the doorways.

The next step of the DRV Air Force was targeted night attacks by South Vietnamese and American warships and ground bases. It is a well-known case when an An-2 group sank a warship of the Navy of South Vietnam (corvette or frigate according to modern classification) in a night combat flight with the help of NURS and damaged a landing ship of the South Vietnamese Navy. But a similar attack on a U.S. Navy destroyer that shelled the coast at night failed. The Americans, who controlled the radar airspace, detected the approaching An-2 in time and shot down one biplane with an anti-aircraft missile. Much more successful, the Vietnamese An-2 acted against armed boats and junks, which were attacked by American and South Vietnamese sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

The end of the Vietnam War did not put an end to the military career of the "corn". After the introduction of Vietnamese troops in 1979 in Cambodia, the An-2 struck at the Khmer Rouge. They were most often used as advanced air raiders. Pilots of the An-2, finding the target, "processed" it with bombs and NURS. Incendiary phosphor grenades were used to mark the target and aim at other faster attack aircraft, and thick, well-marked white smoke was emitted during the burning of white phosphorus, which served as a reference point. Interestingly, for air strikes in Cambodia on the "Khmer Rouge", along with low-speed An-2, the F-5 fighters and A-37 attack aircraft made in the United States were used.

The next time the An-2 went into battle in Nicaragua in the early 1980's. Several Sandinista agricultural planes were equipped with containers to hold 100 kg of air bombs. As such, the planes were used to bomb CIA-backed "contra" units.

The little-known page of combat use of the An-2 is the war in Afghanistan. In addition to transporting cargo to field airfields, these vehicles were used by the Afghan Air Force as light reconnaissance and correctors. Several times they bombed by villages occupied by armed opposition units. Good maneuverability and low infrared signature of the piston engine helped them to avoid defeat by MANPADS missiles. If the An-2 anti-aircraft machine guns came under fire, they went on a shaving flight or dived into the gorges. Repeatedly, the Afghan An-2 returned to the airfields with holes, but they are not in the reports of combat losses.

An-2 also occasionally participated in various conflicts in Africa. Machine-gun turrets were hand-mounted on airplanes, and hand grenades and industrial explosive cartridges were usually used to bomb ground targets.

The scale of the An-2's combat use in ethnic conflicts in the former Yugoslavia was much larger. In Croatia, a bomber squadron with about a dozen An-2s was created on the basis of the agricultural detachment in the city of Osijek. Since November 1991, Croatian "twos" had been involved in night bombings of Serb positions, with a total of more than 60 combat sorties. At the same time, homemade bombs dropped through open doors were used. Due to the low infrared visibility, the An-2 proved to be a difficult target for the Strela-2M MANPADS that the Serbs had. There is a case when the Serbian military spent 16 MANPADS missiles in order to shoot down a Croatian piston biplane at night. In total, the Croats lost at least five An-2s during the fighting near the city of Vukovar.

In January-February 1993, a Croatian An-2 bombed the positions of troops and important objects of the self-proclaimed Republic of Srpska Krajina. One An-2 was shot down during a raid on an oil field near the village of Dzheletovica. The crew managed to make a forced landing, but trying to escape persecution, the pilots exploded in a minefield.

In 1992, Croats used their An-2s during fighting in the former Federal Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There, one plane burned in the air after hitting a 57-mm projectile anti-aircraft gun S-60. Bosnian Serbs got the equipment of local aeroclubs, they used the An-2 as scouts and light attack aircraft. In March 1993, a plane was shot down while bombing Muslim positions near the town of Srebrenica.

Cases of An-2 combat use during the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh were noted. According to media reports, one Armenian An-2 crashed after being damaged by anti-aircraft fire.

In Chechnya, General Dudayev had several serviceable An-2s at his disposal. It is known that some of them were prepared for use as night bombers. But these planes did not have time to take part in hostilities, all of them were destroyed in early December 1994 by Russian aircraft at the airfields of the base.

The use of "twos" in hostilities was usually forced. Transport-passenger, agricultural and aeroclub aircraft made combat sorties after minimal re-equipment and training.

The use of the An-2 for military purposes in the DPRK was approached quite differently. Much of the Soviet and Chinese-made biplanes in North Korea were being upgraded at aircraft repair plants. To reduce visibility at night, the planes were painted black, in the doorways and in the porthole mounted shooting turrets. Holders for bombs and NAR blocks were installed under the lower planes and the fuselage. In addition to the strike functions, the "twos" were tasked with throwing spies and saboteurs into South Korea. They crossed the line of demarcation at extremely low altitudes, remaining invisible to South Korean and American radars. The Military Museum in Seoul is currently showcasing a North Korean An-2 captured by South Korean intelligence during one of these missions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-2

The An-2 was adopted in bulk by both the Soviet Air Force and other Eastern Bloc military forces. It was first used in a military context during the Korean War of the early 1950s.[citation needed]

The Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF) was another prolific user of the AN-2; during the Vietnam War, the service occasionally used the type as an attack aircraft. During the 1960s, a single An-2 that was attempting to engage South Vietnamese naval units was shot down by a United States Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II fighter, under the control of an Air Intercept Controller on the USS Long Beach.[4]

It's a good thing AN-2s don't have a rear machine gun like Lysanders and Fieseler Storches have!

On 12 January 1968, a clandestine TACAN site (call sign: Lima Site 85/Phou Pha Ti) installed by the United States Air Force in Northern Laos for directing USAF warplanes flying from Thailand to Vietnam was attacked by three North Vietnamese An-2s. A pair of An-2s fired on the outpost using a mixture of machine guns and rockets while a third An-2 orbited overhead to survey the assault. An Air America Bell UH-1B, XW-PHF that had been resupplying the site gave chase to the two attacking aircraft; using an AK-47, the American crew (Ted Moore Captain, Glen Wood Kicker) succeeded in shooting down one of the An-2s while the second aircraft was forced down by combined ground and air fire, eventually crashing into a mountain. The surviving Antonov returned to its home base, Gia Lam, near Hanoi.[14]

During the Croatian War of Independence in 1991, a number of aged An-2 biplanes previously used for crop-spraying were converted by the Croatian Air Force to drop makeshift barrel bombs; they were also used to conduct supply missions to the town of Vukovar and other besieged parts of Croatia.[15] The chief advantage for the An-2 was that they could take off and land in small or improvised airstrips; they were also frequently used to drop supplies by parachute on isolated garrisons. At least one AN-2 was shot down on 2 December 1991 over Vinkovci, eastern Slavonia, by a Serbian surface-to-air missile (SAM) emplacement which purportedly launched a salvo of SA-6s at the aircraft.[16][17] Following the shootdown, the flights over Serbian lines ceased, due to the presence of Serb SA-6's. The previous radar guided AA systems were avoided by keeping the airplane's speed below 140 km/h (87 mph), the speed of objects that radars were programmed to erase from the screen.

Reportedly, North Korea has operated a number of the AN-2s. The Korean People's Army Special Operation Force is known to use the An-2 to facilitate the infiltration of paratroopers.[18] It has been speculated that in wartime, these aircraft could possibly be used to deliver troops behind enemy lines for sabotage operations.[4]

As October, 2020 during the ongoing 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war Azerbaijan Forces have been operating unmanned AN-2 for surveillance and bombing of Armenian defenses,[19][20][21] however the type of the drone remaining unknown for Armenian sources.[22] Armenian forces revealed footage of the alleged shotdown of Azerbaijani An-2, according to video evidence at least 11 An-2 have been destroyed, with 10 confirmed as shot down and one crashing after takeoff.[23][24]

The Future of Biplanes--Away from Normies

How about 3x wings?
GMTA--not losertarded minds!

Normies don't DO much kinetically so they need to STFU and leave the world of action's actors alone. According to their normiestupid biplanes are "old hat", "obsoletewhatever".

STFU and go back to your mom's basement and warplay masturbate with your video games.

The Russians have a new all composite AN-2 Colt that they'll be building 200x of them.

We wonder what their eSTOL lengths they'll need for TO/Ls? and what their radar and IR signatures will be?

We might find out the hard way with an AN-2 StealthColt precision-bombing and destroying our so-called "more modern aircraft" at a bloated air base/FOB...
