The AC-556 is a selective-fire version of the Mini-14 marketed for military and law enforcement use. The design incorporates a selector on the right/rear of the receiver to select either semi-automatic, 3-round burst, or full-automatic fire modes; the manual safety at the front of the trigger guard operates the same as a standard Mini-14. The front sight is winged and incorporates a bayonet lug. The 13-inch (330 mm) or 18-inch (460 mm) barrel incorporates a flash suppressor, which can be used to launch approved tear-gas and smoke rifle grenades. A folding stock was used on the AC-556F and AC-556K. The rifle came equipped with 20-round magazines and a 30-round version was available for a time. The AC-556 was dropped from production in 1999 and Ruger stopped offering service for the rifle in 2009.[23][24] By that time, some models became available for private civilian purchase in the NFA market.[25]

Meet th Mini-14X
Another option is the well-liked MUZZLELITE Bullpup stock for the Mini-14 that doesn't work well with us lefties getting hot shell casings so near our "face" (A-Team shout out, pun intended). If you're right-handed, the bullpup Mini-14 is great except it needs some plastic cleared away for the Cogburn Arsenal Adapter to SCL it.

PLAN A: your Mini-14 is out of PRE-Loaded Magazines ammo aka PRELMs.
PLAN B: it takes 30 seconds to 1 minute to make a PRELM with 10 rounds.
PLAN C: if instead of a PRELMD AR15, you have a SKS, M14, Mini-14, CZ58 or Canadian FN FAL, you Stripper Clip Load (SCL) load 10 rounds DIRECTLY INTO THE GUN and are ready-to-fire in 5 seconds.
5 seconds per 10-round SCL beats 30 seconds to 1 minute PRELMing.

These are a functional equivalent to the Mini-30 mag loaders previously listed on our website. In the past, a third party produced these parts on our behalf. We now use our own machines to produce these with some design enhancements to make them easier to print. Additionally, we now have full control of colors and we selected a nice array of colors specific to shooting sports. If that’s not enough, by cutting out the middle man, we reduced the cost and increased production speed.
We manufacture these parts in the USA using 3D ABS(Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) in and FFF type machine. Please allow approximately 1 week for production after the order.

The most striking feature of the MUZZELITE bullpup stock, when attached to your action, is the overall length of 26-1/2". This allows you to carry the rifle with much greater mobility. Whether your sport is hunting or plinking, the MUZZELITE bullpup stock will convert a long rifle into a compact weapon system in just a matter of minutes!
The stock itself has fixed sights which are adjustable for windage and elevation. The windage is done with the rear sight and the elevation is done with the front sight. The stock also comes equipped with a scope mount which attaches in the handle.
Construction is of fiberglass reinforced plastic. Required Allen wrench is included.
