BATTLETALK 006: Knife-Bayonet Fighting: Better Have Something Up Your Sleeve!

 War futurist Phil West writes:

AFAIK, the most recent treatment of modern bayonet use was my own Crash Combat. The second edition added some more points. There are a few refinements I might make, but sales have not justified the time and money this would take.

Some is covered in the recent blog post http://survive.phillosoph.com/the-point-of-bayonets/

Little known fact. Sight settings for the Lee Enfield for ranges of 300 yards or less were calibrated for a bayonet being fitted. Manuals written for this time make it clear the bayonet was expected to be fitted anytime ranges dropped to 300yds.

If you want bayonets, you need a bayonet that is handy, not overweight and is functional. And a clear SOP for when to fit them.

For minimal weight, the ertsatz designs are worth a look.

This is probably as light as you can get short of spikes. [Tank Sergeant author, Vietnam combat veteran Ralph] Zumbro liked the fitted spike of the Type 56, Has the merit of being where you need it, when you need it.

In previous examinations we've validated the organized Stealth rifle-bayonet attack by choice used by British Commandos & U.S. ARMY RANGERS in WW2:

www.combatreform.org/tacknives.htm

As well as documented the rifle-bayonet for individual Soldier emergency use when ammunition runs out in combat; the epic 1863 Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain's maneuver saved America from breaking off into two; though in hindsight an unified WOKETARDED Amerika run by evil Illuminati Satanists pandering to nihilist-hedonist sheeple is far greater an abomination than any agrarian slavery.

The best Hollywood movie depiction of the ammo-less Soldier fighting back with rifle-bayonets (defacto pikes) is the 1981 movie "Southern Comfort"

Other problems we've solved in BATTLETALK 001 is the M203 and M320 40mm Grenade Launchers (GLs) blocking the bayonet from attaching to the front sight post lug, easily solved by a bolt-on bayonet lugs:

The U.S. ARMY and Mc already state the bayonet is a self-defense/weapon of last choice etc.

THE PROBLEM IS THE MILBUREAUCRACY DOES NOT TRUST MILPEOPLE THEY HAVE TREATED POORLY FOR YEARS TO HAVE BAYONETS.

So, the multi-functionality of M9 Wire Cutter Bayonets is our on foot-in-the-door REASON to get bayonets into use as FIELD KNIVES--which everyone should have for SERE reasons.

The MILBUREAUCRACY that wants sex-with-poop does NOT trust MILSHEEPLE to have long knives.

We can also work around their paranoia to attain organized SIMBA technotactics by using PLASTIC M9 WCBs from Cold Steel to train-as-we-fight.

M9 RUBBER TRAINING BAYONET

SKU: CS-92RBNT

$19.99

Now you can practice with some of our most popular knife designs in relative safety - with our rubber training knives! Each trainer has been carefully fashioned to look as realistic as possible so they can be effectively used in solo practice, training drills, disarm drills, and demonstrations and any other activity where you want a reasonably close approximation of realism but not the extreme danger and risk associated with an actual knife.

The Israeli infatuation with compact bullpup Tavor Assault Rifles has deluded them into short barrel types incapable of fixing a bayonet to them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IWI_Tavor

The CTAR-21 is a compact shorter 380 mm (15 in) barrel variant intended for commandos and special forces, but has become more favored than the standard TAR-21 throughout the IDF.

The long barrel can have a standard USMIL bayonet attached--I disagree with the description--its a M7 bayonet coming as standard accessory from IMI. Shrug.

The IDF has truly fucked itself out of the proven WW2 British Commandos/U.S. ARMY Rangers tactic of the stealth bayonet attack with their short barrel Tavor craze.

New Bayonet for Small Arms

IWI has begun marketing a new bayonet that can be adapted to weapons with a long or short stock

IWI has recently begun manufacturing a new, unique bayonet for small arms. The bayonet was designed and produced by IWI, which also produces weapon stocks and flash suppressors with special bayonet adapters per client requests. The bayonets can be assembled on various weapon types with short or long stocks.

The new bayonet is already being marketed to various clients throughout the world.

In an interview for IsraelDefense several months ago, IWI's CEO Uri Amit revealed that "IWI is about to release new weapons to the market." In the interview, Amir also discussed the new Uzi Pro, which was launched just a few months ago and admitted that "mass sales have yet to take place, but the weapon is being presented and is receiving excellent responses."

Now relax and re-think this entire situation again.

A 720 Degree Look at Sharp-Edged Weapon Combat

You are at WAR. Everyone and everything in all 720 degree directions can kill you.

You are deliberately closing with the enemy and may have to defeat him with a knife/bayonet alone or attached to the end of your shoulder weapon as a defacto pike.

In such combats the enemy is HIGHLY LIKELY to CUT YOU desperately trying to defend his life. Your helmet & body armor will stop sharp edge attacks--but you ARMS doing the fighting are exposed as they close in on their prey.

Thus, it behooves Soldiers knowing they are going into the ASSAULT to don Kevlar cut-resistant sleeves under their Army Combat Uniform (ACU) sleeves to prevent possibly fatal blood loss lacerations. These sleeves are also fire-resistant and working in conjunction with Nomex flight gloves are a good combination, but I find I need fingertip-less gloves to have necessary weapons handling dexterity. While I prefer the rappel-fast rope-capable HATCH fingertip gloves, Kevlar knife-resistant tip-less ones are better for sharp edged weapon combats. Perhaps the HATCH gloves can drape over the Kevlar ones?

If one is going to knife fight...better bring something up--I mean don your sleeves!
