The Past is Prologue...

In 1988, I warned in marine Gazette that gate guards should have MOPP 4 gear and every marine should have his MOPP gear in car trunk so he can even REACH the base.

Note the USMIL refuses to supply a disposible toothbrush and disposable razor cartridge in every Meal-Ready-to-Eat (MRE) to guard against contaminants:

The USMIL bureaucracy is ZERO ASSed--not even half-assed. Some may hate to get into WHY--but the Army/morons are simply not held to any life-threatening forces on a daily basis to effect any kind of stoical vigor in regards to CBR/NBC--until NOW. 

The USMIL's ground forces are for Type B personality hedonists wanting an easy Gomer Pyle routine or play the "From Here to Eternity" tyrant-asshole. The Navy's party-in-every-port hedonism is horrendous. 

Our best hope is alerting POTUS Trump.

For example the "wash your hands every 20 minutes" doesn't apply in safe areas (if one is in such) and there was no mention of nitrile or latex protective gloves which can be aggressively decontaminated and of course are contamination barriers. in the first place--like your squad's tracked tank with an over-pressurized, air filtration system. 

Excessive washing can dry skin resulting in cracks which compromise natural self-defense.  Likewise the CDC "info" on masking was designed for the average normie civilian retard who would never wear a Field Protective Mask (FPM) properly and the little disposables neither protect the face--nor seal worth shit--though they'll do for painting. I've used plenty of the throw-away N95s and half-facepiece 3M cartridge respirators--but if I leave the property, I'm wearing a gas mask. While the media are "expired"--that's mostly relevant to chem warfare and the NATO canister filters are rugged and (as we proved wearing training filters in da gas chamber) sufficient to block particulates and aerosols. Further, the NATO canister inlet hole can be covered by other barrier filter material (for example for people with good filters but the wrong mask) to protect the internal filter element. Too late perhaps for this COVID 19 panic-demic adventure but I'm interested in bulk filter media and unconventional filter adaptation as quality expedients.

It would be an interesting subject for a paper since the U.S. military also failed to be ready (the USS Roosevelt is an example) for BW (natural or terrorist) despite the warning of SARS. South Korea, Singapore etc took action after SARS and Taiwan did exceptionally well. A low-level BW attack on a Navy base could take out shore-based crews before an attack or just to attrit the force so terrs have an easier time.

Port calls serve no intelligent purpose and should be banned. 

They are not more than parties--and while parties are fun--the world has changed.

One way for those with the equipment is an SCBA which could be any breathing air or O2 tank with a demand regulator (as on medical tanks). Those would easily adapt to 40mm NATO threads turning a field pro mask into SCBA, or suitable filters could convert air supplied respirators as used in paint shops.

The SecDef should order ALL USMIL personnel to have MOPP4 gear with them in their car trunks or on-base/post barracks rooms/houses so they can be alive to report for duty. ALL gate guards must have their MOPP4 in their guard shacks.

NOTES

Hard body armor works. EVERY U.S. ARMY Soldier should have body armor as his/her "LBE" and wear it EVERYDAY to get used to its weight NOW in peacetime. Drop the non-relevant sports PT in the morning that wastes half our day.

Thursday morning a Syrian-American terrorist armed with an AR-15, shotgun, and pistol planned to shoot the gate guard, enter the Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi Texas and kill as many on base as possible. A young female Sailor on duty checking IDs was shot square in the chest by the terrorist. Her ceramic armor stopped the bullet, but the force knocked her to the ground. She was able to activate the final denial barrier before the terrorist could pass through. She then unloaded her side arm into the vehicle killing the terrorist and saving unknown lives. Just in case this hadn’t made it into your news feed, I thought you should know. GO NAVY
